Great Polarskin review!!

Without the album being released (not yet that is), we received a very good review on the Polarskin album.
Here's a copy of the review that is in the August issue of Maverick:

With no information on their myspace, or a handy booklet providing band member names, Polarskin remain an exciting mystery from the Netherlands. What If I is the opening track, full of an energetic performance, with the band playing tightly together. The lead singer holds a well controlled voice, without overpowering the music, or letting the music shadow his vocal. Hope is reminiscent of the band Keane, with the guitars strumming out mellow melodies, with the drums providing a steady beat. With all fifteen songs written by Polarskin, each one demonstrates how this group have found the right balance in making a great record. Stranger is not too far from the likes of Muse, sounding similar to the rock trio’s songs heard on mainstream radio. With the right promotion, there is no excuse as to why BLACK SWAN THEORY should not be on the shelves in music stores across Europe. Fear is a guitar anthem, sounding spotless. Stumble is a must hear with strong flavours from Muse really coming through. Even vocally, the lead vocalist shares similar attributes to Matt Bellamy. From track one through to track fifteen, the sound produced by this group is flawless, never straying from the mighty rock sound that they bring to the record. Well worth seeking out. CB

Anneke van Giersbergen, Aqua de Annique, Polarskin, Veldman Brothers

Very very short update, because I have been working my a$$ of lately ;-)

-mixed the new Anneke van Giersbergen & Agua de Annique album. And it is a f#cking briljant album. It has everything I would be looking for in an album; catchy tunes, different moods, layered songs and also stripped ones. And she sings beautifully! This album is gonna impress a lot of people I can assure you!
The album will be released in 10 countries all over the world.

-recorded/mixed/produced an album by a brand new band called Polarskin. It's a band with layered & atmospheric songs with a great singer. Their style is difficult to pin down, since I don't know a band that does what they do. The best I can come up with (to describe their original sound) is a combination of bands. So elements of; Coldplay (intense), Snow Patrol (dynamic), Starsailor (emotion) with Editors (verb guitars).
We just got the final master of all 15 songs we recorded. Now we will start looking for a label that will pick their favorites (12?) and release that as an album.

-mixed a live TVperformance of Bertolf @ Pauw & Witteman. And also the "rooftop set" he did for that same program. (Besides that also some other Radio/Tv gigs of Miss Montreal & Bertolf, including sets&sessions at Lowlands)

-mixed a live record by bluesband The Veldman Bros.
This limited edition cd proves that VB is the best Blues band in this country right now. Loads of energy, atmosphere and steamy performances!

Besides that I also did some pre-production with acts that I might record with real soon & I did 2 projects for a publishing company.
And.... I might get my own personal mixing&overdub room!! Looking into options right now. It has to be a room that is build around the combination of Pro Tools HD together with an excellent analogue mixing desk & all my analogue outboard.
Looking into several locations at the moment.

Editors / Greendive

For the next 2 months greendive is selected "Serious Talent" on Dutch radio 3FM. The track "Scar my face" can be heared daily after 7 PM, and on sundays. This is very quick, just after the EP "Break the silence" was finished three weeks ago.
The first labels also showed interest so everything seems to develop very smooth ;-)

Other great news: my schedule contains recordings with The Editors!

I just worked on a project with the well known arranger Rik Elings (wich will be released all over the world). Rik made arrangements for lot's of different artists and worked for different orchestra's and big bands. He did over 300 pieces for The Metropole Orchestra.
