Big release

First, let me tell you about some releases I'm involved in:

1) LIVE released 3 versions of their CDsingle "Run Away", the red&blue editons both feature some songs wich Frank mathijssen and I mixed. The recordings were made in Belgium. (click here for my discography)

2) BRAINPOWER is gonna release a DVD pretty soon with the P.U.R.E. set on it. The PURE-set was recorded for The Box Music TV, but will also contain some songs wich were not broadcasted on TV. The mixing took place in DutchView Studio.

3) KREZIP also released a DVD with their P.U.R.E. set on it. And that their latest single (mine) was taken from those sessions (mixed by Hans Bunt and myself.) If you'll buy the DVD, you will also get a free audio-cd with these recordings!

4) BEEF has released a DVD with the P.U.R.E. set on it. Hans Bunt and I mixed that show originally for The Box Music TV.

5) One or two singles of Motown artist INDIA ARIE will contain a special bonus live-track wich Paul Schoenmakers & I mixed and recorded.

The last couple of weeks I've done (concert)-recordings/mixes of:

  • Blur (livemix for VPRO radio)

  • JIM (recorded & mixed for PURE @ The Box. They are considering a DVD release of these performances)

  • Spineshank (livemix for VPRO radio + multitrack recording for DVD)

  • Ill Nino (livemix for VPRO radio + multitrack recording for DVD)

  • Intwine (recorded & mixed for PURE @ The Box.)

  • Spiritualized (livemix for VPRO radio)

  • Dewi (recorded & mixed for The Box)

  • Greendive (I'm co-producing their album, and I also did some mixing)

  • Raymzter (recorded & mixed for PURE @ The Box.)

  • Lowlands Festival (lots of bands... Highlight: FOO FIGHTERS!)

  • Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

    Live

Not all the things I am recording/mixing R gonne be on this News-section. Simply because I haven't got time enough to write it all down....

I just finished 2 projects for the American band LIVE:

  • They were in Holland for a special TV-show called 'PopSecret' (BNN). Their management asked me to come and multitrack the show, and do the mixing.(I've recorded and mixed Live 7 times already). The recordings were made @ NEMO, wich is some kind of a museum in Amsterdam, and there where only 250 people lucky enough to be in the audience! [CLICK HERE for some pics!] After that I went two days into the MCO3 studio to mix ( together with engineer Frank Mathijssen) all the songs on a lovely NEVE VR desk. (Probably the only Neve-desk in this country?!)

  •  A week later Frank and got hired by MCA/Universal again, this time to mix a LIVE show that was recorded in Brussels. This show was broadcast @ TMF Vlaanderen. Some tracks we mixed, ended up on CD-single. Click here

  • I record & mix special live performances for Dutch music-TV station THE BOX. They have a program called PURE, wich is a mixture between MTV's "Unplugged" and VH1's "StoryTellers". PURE is created and produced by a little company called IISYOU MUSIC.
The last time we recorded two populair Dutch idols : Jim and Intwine. (Before that we have done shows with Krezip, Beef, Brainpower, Relax, Di-Rect, Raymzter...)

    Destiny's Child

First, let me tell you about some releases I'm involved in:

    1) The Destiny's Child DVD "World Tour" is finally out. Last year we recorded the Rotterdam show of their tour, and now that complete gig is out on DVD!

    2) There is a limited edition of the new LIVE album "Birds Of Pray". That edition includes a free DVD containing 4 songs LIVE played at Pinkpop2002. The music was mixed live by Frank Mathijssen and myself for Radio3fm and national TV.

    3) The latest Queens of the Stoneage cd-single "Go with the Flow" contains a live-track wich me and Hans Bunt recorded & mixed live at The Milkyway, Amsterdam for KRO's Leidsekade Live.

    4) Universal Music (in the UK) released two versions of the latest Counting Crows single "Big Yellow Taxi". One version contains a live version of  "Miami" wich I recorded together with engineer Frank Mathijssen for Radio3fm. (So this is in fact a live-mix, no multitrack recodings or anything...)

    5) EMI (in Holland) have been releasing a 3-version cd-box of "Clocks" by Coldplay. Each version contains some live-tracks wich engineer Paul Schoenmakers & I recoded and mixed live on the 5th of november 2002 in the Ahoy stadium in Rotterdam. A total of 10 live-tracks is released, so fans can collect some sort of a live-album.

    6) The UK-edition of the latest INDIA ARIE album contains a special bonus live-track wich Paul Schoenmakers & I mixed and recorded.

    7) BEEF has released a DVD with the P.U.R.E. set on it. Hans Bunt and I mixed that show originally for The Box Music TV.

    8) Rumours are that KREZIP are also gonna release a DVD with their P.U.R.E. set on it. And that their next single (mine) was mixed by Hans Bunt and myself.

The last few weeks I've done concert-recordings/mixes for Radio3FM of:

Macy Gray (at the Milkyway in Amsterdam. Macy had fun, I assume, cause she played more than 2 hours and 20 minutes!!! There was a real good atmosphere and people were really diggin' her show. And they weren't the only ones having fun...)
Raveonettes (a dirty ass-kickin' band... and that's what they did at their concert at Milkyway Amsterdam. All songs under three minutes, all packed with energy!)

Goldfrapp (lots of electronica, lots of people on stage playing all the instruments and a real original sound. It was the first show of their tour, so not all the songs were smooth, but more than enough for a good broadcast)
LONDON CALLING festival (pfff... what can I say?! A lot of new English talents, all playing in Paradiso. We recorded 9 bands for VPRO radio. My personal favorites were Echoboy and Damien Rice)

Calexico (a band that is able to keep surprising you! I've recorded them before, but every time is different. These guys love to take risks; some the win, some they loose, you might say. So we managed to get a few wonderful performances on tape.)
Johnny Marr (He used to be the guitarist of legendary band The Smiths, but nowadays he has his own band. He makes real English music in the tradition of bands like Stone Roses and The Charlatans. So I really enjoyed myself... nice guy too!)

3 Doors Down + Theory of a Deadman (I've recorded 3 Doors Down a few times before. This band is always tight & rockin', so also this time at Paradiso! Support-act:
Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian band which sounds more or less like Nickelback.)

In my spare time I did some recordings and mixing for the (roots)rockband Livin' Stone. The album-cover is finally ready so the album is out now. There R a lot of recording-session pictures on their SITE

    25 March 2003

    Coldplay

EMI (in Holland) have been releasing a 3-version cd-box of "Clocks" by Coldplay. Each version contains some live-tracks with engineer Paul Schoenmakers & I recoded and mixed live on the 5th of november 2002 in the Ahoy stadium in Rotterdam. A total of 10 live-tracks is released, so fans can collect some sort of a live-album.

Avril Lavigne (Great live-band, wonderful crew, but Avril wasn't in great shape. She had fever, so it probably wasn't her best show ever. But the atmosphere was great, and she even did a Green Day cover.)

Radio4 (A dirty sounding album, so we also tried to make our concert-recording as butt-kickin as possible. A lot of tube-compression was used on this mix. The band gave a solid performance, and I love to listen back to it when I'm on the highway.)

Beth Gibbons (She is probably most known as THE singer of Portishead. This is a woman who can hypnotize an audience, as long as she gets enough musical support. And she did get that when she played in the Milkyway in Amsterdam. The guitar player of Portishead was also in her band. It turned out to be a very atmospheric recording, with some stunning live-versions of her intimate songs!)

Good Charlotte (Talkin'about butt-kickin'! These guys know how to give a energy to the crowd without compromising their performance. Wow, great punk-rock show.)

Kelly Osbourne (Need I introduce this woman/girl???! Just like Avril, she got a very tight band around her. The whole day was like one big episode of The Osbournes. And I was in it.... I don't recall having that much fun on a recording day before!)
